Movie Screening at NIFT Kannur By Film Club


Grease is an American musical film directed by Randal Kleiser and based on Warren Casey's and Jim Jacobs's musical, of the same name about two lovers in a 1950s high school. The film stars John Travolta, Olivia Newton-John, Stockard Channing, and Jeff Conaway. It was successful both critically and at the box office; its soundtrack album ended 1978 as the second-best selling album of the year in the United States (the best selling album of that year was the Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack, another film starring Travolta).

Inauguration of NIFT Campus


NIFT Kannur New Campus handed over to NIFT by Kerala State Government .The official handing over ceremony was blessed by auspicious presence of many dignitaries from various walks of life, By the opening of NIFT, the door to the world for fashion technology is thrown opened to the state. The New Campus is near the Govt. Engg. College. The proximity to Kannur university campus, Kannur Govt. Engg. College, central university in Kasaragod etc will benefit more to the NIFT.Kannur is already announced by the central govt. as the city of export excellence for handloom. A team of experts from IIM Kozhikode has suggested more courses in the textile field and as a part of this, the Institute of Handloom Textile Technology-Thottada (I.I.H.T) is already upgraded to national standards.Exporters and political leaders from the district also worked hard to bring the NIFT to Kannur and among the 4 campuses sanctioned along with, Kannur NIFT is the only one with own campus Govt is sanctioned Rs. 58 crore for the campus and sanctioned another Rs. 17 crore this year. NIFT authorities are trying to ink the agreements with many foreign universities to for higher studies for the students from here.Basic facilities like laboratory, ladies hostel, canteen etc. are already completed and academic block, men’s hostel etc. would be completed soon. Different from other NIFTs designed by the Indian Institute of Architects, Ahmadabad, NIFT Kannur camapus is designed by Thrissur based Indigo Architects.
